This is an anthology of short stories that explore what happens when a young person accuses a person of influence in their community of taking advantage of them. At the core of these stories is the question: Who do you believe?

The Anthology


Believe Me When I Say will be an anthology of short stories that explore what happens when a young person accuses a person with influence of taking advantage of them. At the core of these stories will be the question: Who do you believe?The anthology will consist of seventeen (17) stories that fall into one of the following categories:- They did it AND there is evidence
- They did it AND there is NO evidence
- They did NOT do it AND there is NO evidence
- They did NOT do it BUT there is evidence
With the writers deciding on the genders of the accuser and the accused. That is to say, it could be- a girl accusing a man
- a boy accusing a woman
- a girl accusing a woman
- a boy accusing a man
Writers are invited to delve into the grey areas of this topic and craft a unique story.These stories will be compiled into a book, which will be available as an ebook and a print book. The print book will be available locally and via Amazon. The ebook will be available through most, if not all, ebook sellers, including Amazon, Apple Books, and Barnes & Noble.Not only do we hope to share these stories, but at the end of the anthology, we intend to share resources for those who find themselves in this situation or know of someone who is in such a situation.We are currently putting out a call for submissions and information on how to contribute to the anthology can be found here.Please note that this anthology is only open to residents of Antigua & Barbuda, and is open to all age groups.

Call for Submissions


We are currently accepting submissions for this anthology, with the deadline being August 15, 2026.Guidelines
- Writers must be residents of Antigua & Barbuda;
- All age groups are welcome;
- Word Limits: 1,500 - 5,500 words;
- Stories must fall under one of the following categories:
The accused did it AND there is evidence
The accused did it AND there is NO evidence
The accused did NOT do it AND there is NO evidence
The accused did NOT do it BUT there is evidence
- The stories must follow the Shunn Standard or Modern Manuscript Format. If you’re not familiar, refer to this website
- Do NOT write about real people;
- Do NOT use AI to write your story;
- Up to four (4) submissions are allowed, but they must not fall into the same category.
